Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Jake McCabe suffered a scary head and neck injury on Saturday night after taking puck to the area, and now, Craig Berube has an update.

Saturday night was mostly a good night for the Maple Leafs as they defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning by a score of 5-3 while getting back some of their best scorers, such as Auston Matthews.

However, at one point during the game, McCabe took a puck to the neck area and he ended up going down hard.

It was a scary scene and it led to McCabe going back to the locker room.

When the third period began McCabe was not on the Leafs bench and he ended up never returning to the game.

Following the game, head coach Craig Berube was asked about the injury and whether or not there was anything to worry about.

Some big updates on Jake McCabe from Craig Berube

Berube was very honest, noting that McCabe was doing okay and there is no expectation that the defenseman will miss any playing time, moving forward.

McCabe has been a rock-solid defenseman for the Maple Leafs over the last couple of seasons.

Last season, in particular, he was a stud as he finished with a total of 28 points and had a plus/minus of +20.

This proved to be his best season statistically, so it only makes sense that the Leafs would keep him in the fold.

As for last night's win, it was yet another example of this team really coming together.

The Leafs have now won eight of their last 10 and currently boast a record of 14-7-2. Ultimately, it has been a good start to the season.
