Toronto Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews recently came out and spoke on the fact that goaltender Anthony Stolarz has to get knee surgery to remove a pebble.

Anthony Stolarz suffered an injury against the Anaheim Ducks just last week, and now, he is being forced to get knee surgery that will keep him out of the Maple Leafs lineup for over a month.

Stolarz has been an absolute beast this season as he has amassed a record of 9-5-2, a goals-against average of 2.15 and a save percentage of .927.

However, speaking of beasts, you also have the likes of Auston Matthews, who is playing some solid hockey even if his goal totals are down.

With the injury to Stolarz at the back of everyone's mind, Matthews was asked about the team's goaltending situation and how their confidence is right now.

As Matthews diplomatically explained, the team knows they can win with Joseph Woll, and they aren't worried going forward.

"I mean, I think [our confidence] is pretty high. Joe has been great for us, and the Beast has been solid when he's been up and had to play. I think we have a lot of confidence in our goalies. Obviously, we hope the best for Stolie-he's been great for us all year-but whether it's forwards or defense, guys get injured, and others have to step up."

Of course, there is some concern for Stolarz given what he is going through right now.

No one ever wants to see a goalie have to deal with a knee injury, especially since that part of your body is so important for your success.

Having said that, Auston Matthews is doing a good job in the Maple Leafs captaincy role.

Tonight, the team takes on the Dallas Stars and the Leafs will be looking to Matthews to perhaps get some goals and lead the team to another win.
