Matthew Knies has been a stud for the Toronto Maple Leafs this season and he has been able to deliver a mix of skill and physicality.
This is exactly what the Toronto Maple Leafs need, and it was appreciated last night as the Leafs knocked off the New Jersey Devils in overtime.
Admittedly, the Maple Leafs played an awful game where they only had six shots through 40 minutes of action.
However, Auston Matthews came through clutch during overtime to seal the win and break the team's two-game losing streak.
At one point in last night's game, Matthew Knies got dinged with a two-minute minor penalty for boarding Devils star Jonathan Kovacevic.
As you can see in the clip below, Kovacevic was vulnerable along the boards and Knies took full advantage by pinning his head.
Immediately following the play, Mike Johnson of TSN made the claim that he felt like this penalty could have been a major given the severity of what went down.
One could make the argument that Matthew Knies might get a call from the Department of Player Safety for this.
However, that would be a stretch to presume George Parros would actually do it.
If he does, then the DoPS is never beating the Maple Leafs bias allegations.
Either way, the Maple leafs got back in the win column and for a lot of fans, that is really all that matters right about now.
