William Nylander had a solid night for the Maple Leafs on Saturday has he scored two goals. Unfortunately, it was not enough as the team lost to the Islanders by a score of 6-3.
The loss can largely be chalked up to a horrendous start to the game, as Joseph Woll gave up two goals in the first five minutes.
Of course, the two goals weren't all on him, although we're sure he would have preferred to get a couple of them back.
Immediately after the second goal, Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube called a timeout where he tried to get his team back into the game.
After the match, William Nylander was asked about the moment with the coach. As Nylander explains, Berube was very animated and had some profanities for the team to chew on.
While the Maple Leafs did cut the Islanders' lead to one, a couple of times, it simply was not enough to win the game.
The team was just flat for the majority of the game, and with Auston Matthews out of the lineup, it just felt like the team was demoralized.
This loss was part of the second half of a back-to-back so at least the Maple Leafs have an excuse for why they may have lacked energy.
Now, the team's record sits at 21-11-2, although the team remains near the top of the Atlantic Division standings.
