Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving is looking to make a deal for a center at the trade deadline but he is quickly running out of viable options.

One of the players that has been on Brad Treliving's radar over the past few months has been Seattle Kraken Yanni Gourde, who just returned from injury.

Overall, he is a solid offensive weapon who has 17 points in 36 games this season, and would look a lot better with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

In fact, earlier today, we reported that Treliving and the Kraken were negotiating a potential multi-player trade that would include Brandon Tanev AND Gourde.

Unfortunately for the Maple Leafs, that deal is not going to happen as the Tampa Bay Lightning got to him first.

According to Pierre LeBrun, it's quite the trade, and the Lightning are actually getting two highly sought after players.

Seattle gets first round pick in 26, first round pick in 27, Toronto's 2nd in '25 and Eyssimont in trade with Tampa.
Bolts get Gourde and Bjokstrand plus 5th Rd pick in '26

A divisional rival to the Maple Leafs just got a whole lot better, and that is not going to wit well with fans in Toronto.

With the playoffs coming up, this may just have huge implications on the standings.

Toronto Maple Leafs asleep at the trade deadline

The last 24 hours have actually been quite an indictment on Brad Treliving and his tenure with the franchise thus far.

As we reported, the Boston Bruins traded away Trent Frederic to the Edmonton Oilers, a player the Leafs were considering for a deal.

Meanwhile, the Montreal Canadiens re-signed Jake Evans, which took away that option from the Maple Leafs as well.

Now, the team only has a couple of days left to make a big trade, and the fans are waiting for some kind of good news, otherwise, they may start protesting in the streets.
