Craig Berube Makes Eye-Opening Remarks About Struggling Maple Leafs Defenseman Morgan Rielly
Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Morgan Rielly has not been particularly good this season but his head coach Craig Berube is starting to see some good stuff out of him.
If you have been paying attention to the Leafs this season, you know that Morgan Rielly has struggled mightily.
With just 26 points and a -15 net rating, the defenseman is not playing at the level of a guy who makes $7.5 million per year.
Craig Berube talks Morgan Rielly
Having said that, his last couple of games have actually been pretty good and fans are starting to notice it.
Rielly even had a goal last night against the Vancouver Canucks and while the team lost, it was still an encouraging sign.
While speaking to reporters, Craig Berube gave his d-man some praise and you can't help but feel like Rielly may just be all the way back.
«He has been really good. He had a chance earlier in the second, too, going in at the backdoor.
He is definitely moving better and activating more. He is looking to produce more.»
The Leafs are now off for two weeks due to the 4 Nations Face-Off and this will give Morgan Rielly a chance to settle down and heal from any injuries.
It will also allow him to reset and focus on the postseason which is coming up in just a couple of months from now.
Rielly has been known as a guy who elevates his game come playoff time, so this should be very good news for all of the fans out there.
Hopefully, the Leafs can continue their solid play as they have been one of the best teams in the NHL so far this season.
They are one of the best in the Eastern Conference and they have a chance to win the Atlantic Division.
