Prior to his injury, John Tavares was one of the most productive players on the Maple Leafs.
He had 20 goals and 42 points in 44 games which is very impressive when you consider his age and how many felt like he would regress significantly this season.
Since Tavares has been out of the lineup, the Maple Leafs have struggled to score goals.
It has been frustrating for the fans to watch and there have been prayers that Tavares would return to the lineup soon.
According to Darren Dreger of TSN, Leafs fans have a lot to be excited about because the former captain should be back by early next week.
While Tavares will not be in the lineup against the Edmonton Oilers, he will likely be back for the last stretch of the road trip before the 4 Nations Face-Off.
During these games, the Leafs will be taking on the Calgary Flames, the Seattle Kraken, and the Vancouver Canucks.
Overall, it is going to be an interesting stretch of hockey, and fans are expecting the team to get back into the win column.
Only time will tell whether or not this Leafs team gets back into that rhythm we saw at the start of the year.
