Mitch Marner is about to begin a life-changing journey, and it could also play a role in his future with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Just some days after helping Team Canada win the 4 Nations Face-Off by setting up Connor Mcdavid's game-winning goal, Mitch Marner and his wife shared exciting news since they're expecting their first child.

Stephanie LaChance recently posted photos on Instagram showing her baby bump with Mitch Marner's hands placed proudly on top and a separate image confirmed that they're expecting a baby boy.

This news comes at an interesting time for Marner as he remains unsigned beyond this season.

He is now eligible for an extension since July 1 2024, but the star winger has yet to ink a new deal with the Leafs.

With his first child on the way, the choice of staying in Toronto may now hold even greater appeal since moving his family during such a big moment wouldn't be ideal which is adding another layer to contract negotiations.

Marner's future in Toronto has been a hot topic, but one thing is sure and it's that he's going to get paid, but the real questions now are how much and for how long.

The Leafs must determine whether they can reach an agreement that works for both sides and will ensure their homegrown superstar remains part of their core.

As he prepares for fatherhood, Marner has another major goal in mind and it's bringing a Stanley Cup to Toronto.

Whether or not he is able to accomplish that goal moving forward remains to be seen. If one thing is for certain, it is that Maple Leafs fans are praying for it to happen.
