Paul Bissonnette of Spittin Chiclets is right with Matthews and claims that there has been a problem for years.
Essentially, he feels like the real fans are being priced out and the rich fans who occupy the lower bowl just have no enthusiasm.

There's a guy who goes viral all the time-he posted a video from the lower bowl trying to get people going, and they just told him to shut up. It's a snooze fest, and I don't think it's getting any better.
Unfortunately, Bissonnette does not see this problem actually rectifying itself anytime soon especially with inflation getting worse.

Ultimately, the Maple Leafs organization is going to have to do something because the lack of noise is rejecting and demotivating for the players.
When the playoffs come around, the players are going to want that building to be jumping and there is no guarantee it will be.
Hopefully, the fans can prove the players wrong going forward.
