With Anthony Stolarz out of the lineup due to an injury, Joseph Woll has been the starter and Matt Murray has been the backup.
However, with Stolarz ramping up his return efforts, there have been all sorts of rumors about who the starting goalie would be against the Seattle Kraken.
Today at morning skate, there were only two goalies on the ice and they were Anthony Stolarz and Joseph Woll.
According to David Alter of The Hockey News, Stolarz is the projected goaltender tonight which is absolutely massive news considering everything that has happened over the past few weeks.
We finally get to see the goaltender participate in a game for the first time since December. It will be very interesting to see how he responds.
Of course, Stolarz has been a stud this season with his goals-against average of 2.15 and his save percentage of .927.
If it weren't for his injury, one could argue that the goaltender would be in Vezina talks right now.
However, you do have to give Woll his credit for being able to step up and perform despite having to carry a heavy load for about six weeks of action.
The Maple Leafs are taking on the Kraken tonight and will play the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday prior to the 4 Nations Face-Off break.
It is safe to say that Joseph Woll will end up getting that start, with Stolarz earning a well-deserved night off.
