The NHL trade deadline is taking place next Friday on March 7th and the Toronto Maple Leafs are looking to acquire a center for their bottom-six forward core.

One of the centers who has been on the Maple Leafs radar as of late is Scott Laughton of the Philadelphia Flyers.

He has been a reliable player over the last few years and 11 goals and 27 assists in 57 games this season which would make him an improvement over Max Domi.

Scott Laughton likely done with the Philadelphia Flyers.

Laughton has been involved in numerous trade deadline rumors and it is becoming clearer and clearer that the Flyers full intend from moving on from him in a week from now.

The center seems to understand his fate quite well as he took to social media on Friday night with a cryptic post in which he is seen sitting with teammates at a dinner table in what seems like a recreation of "The Last Supper."

It is a cheeky thing to post, although it also does hint that a trade is likely imminent, and he knows it.

Whether or not that trade is going to be to the Toronto Maple Leafs, still remains to be seen.

While general manager Brad Treliving is interesting in Scott Laughton, there are also other priorities for the team. For instance, it seems like the center at the top of their wish list is Brayden Schenn.

Meanwhile, the Leafs are also in need of some extra defensive depth given injuries to Chris Tanev and an overall lack of bite in their bottom pairing.

Regardless, Laughton remains an option and if the Flyers don't make the Leafs overpay, we could very well see Treliving pull the trigger.

No matter what, this is going to be a fascinating trade deadline as the Leafs go for a Cup push.
