Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Jake McCabe suffered a head injury on Sunday night against the Philadelphia Flyers and Garnet Hathaway is the man to blame.

Jake McCabe has been a stud for the Maple Leafs so far this season, however, the team may have to play without him for a while following a head injury sustained while fighting Garnet Hathaway.

Garnet Hathaway seemed to attempt a dirty move on Jake McCabe

The fight against Hathaway came at the end of the first period of last night's game, and it was one that had fans enraged.

McCabe was essentially slammed onto the ice and the back of his head hit the ground extremely hard.

Subsequently, the Maple Leafs defenseman had a hard time getting up and he was eventually taken to the locker room for further evaluation.

He did not return to the game, and head coach Craig Berube currently has no indication of when McCabe might return.

In the clip above, you can see something quite nefarious from Hathaway, as he lunges his knee toward McCabe's head as they are falling.

The knee seemed to be predatory as it was completely unnecessary in terms of breaking the fall.

Unfortunately, this does not seem like something that the NHL Department of Player Safety will be taking a look at.

Instead, fans are just going to have stew in their juices as we await a true update on Jake McCabe's condition.

We hope the defenseman is doing okay as you never want to see guys get multiple head injuries in one season, let alone just one.
