The Toronto Maple Leafs are in desperate need of a third-line center and it seems like General Manager Brad Treliving is looking at the Philadelphia Flyers for one.

Scott Laughton of the Philadelphia Flyers is a 30-year-old center who has been at the top of trade bait boards for weeks at this point.

The Maple Leafs have been named as an interested party and with the trade deadline on the horizon, fans are looking towards Treliving to make a move.

Scott Laughton trade rumors: Toronto Maple Leafs in the discussion

According to Anthony Di Marco of The Daily Faceoff, it would appear as though the Laughton trade talks have gotten a whole lot louder as of late.

In fact, Stanley Cup contenders like the Winnipeg Jets and the Toronto Maple Leafs are the two teams that are making the biggest push.

Trade discussions surrounding Flyers centre Scott Laughton appear to be intensifying.

People close to the situation suggest that the Leafs and (Jets) are among the most interested teams with several others also in the mix.

The biggest concern here is whether or not Treliving is going to overpay for someone who may end up just being a rental for the postseason.

In 53 games this season, Laughton has 10 goals and 25 points, which is a lot better than some of the bottom six guys on the Leafs this season.

However, such a trade probably involves guys like Nick Robertson, some draft capital, and maybe even a prospect like Easton Cowan or Fraser Minten.

While the Leafs do want to strengthen the team down the middle, they cannot do it at the expense of their future.

Only time will tell whether or not Treliving chooses to be aggressive and get a deal done as soon as possible.
