Auston Matthews Hilariously Roasts Matthew Knies for His On-Ice Antics Against Seattle
Toronto Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews had a sarcastic quip for Matthew Knies who tried to pull a fast one on the officials against the Seattle Kraken.
Matthew Knies had a goal against the Seattle Kraken on Thursday night and it was a controversial one to say the least.
The Kraken felt like it was a high stick but after a review, it was revealed that the Leafs forward made contact with the puck below his shoulders.
Matthew Knies and Auston Matthews get in hijinks
Following the game, there was speculation that Knies' comatose goal celebration was simply a ruse to try and trick the officials into calling it a good goal.
Auston Matthews was asked about this and it led to a pretty hilarious answer in which he gave Knies a bit of a light roast.
«Maybe he doesn't realize there are 1,000 cameras that see everything. But I appreciate the effort.»
Knies and Matthews are two teammates with tremendous chemistry as they have shared the first line for most of the season together.
The forward currently has 21 goals this season and he has a real chance at becoming a 30-goal scorer.
Last season, Knies had 15 goals and 35 points in 80 games. This season, the forward has 36 points in 50 games which just goes to show much he is growing as a player.
Hopefully, this growth continues especially as the Maple Leafs march towards the postseason.
Tonight, Knies and Matthews will be back together again for the last time before the 4 Nations Face-Off as the Leafs take on the Vancouver Canucks.
