Max Domi Has Just Made Things Extra Difficult for Maple Leafs Head Coach Craig Berube
Toronto Maple Leafs forward Max Domi was recently put on the first line by head coach Craig Berube and his play is causing the team to make some difficult decisions.
Max Domi is a player who has largely struggled this year as he has been forced to play center on the third line.
With just three goals on the season, fans feel as though it might be time to part ways with him at the trade deadline.
Max Domi's future with the Toronto Maple Leafs
However, Craig Berube is looking to find the positives as it pertains to Domi. For instance, he recently put the forward on the first line to replace Mitch Marner.
Meanwhile, Marner was paired with William Nylander and John Tavares, who took some criticism from their head coach after Thursday's win against the Seattle Kraken.
"I thought they were fine, but they could've executed better in some situations where they normally would. They kind of mishandled pucks and didn't execute the pass at the time. There were opportunities for them to strike and get some opportunities, but I didn't think they executed well enough."
However, when it comes to Max Domi, Craig Berube is keeping him with Auston Matthews and Matthew Knies for the forseeable future.
"I kept the line together with Matthews, Domi, and Knies. I thought they had a really good game (in Calgary). I liked Max on the line. It felt like he had more juice in the game. I want to keep him going."
This is certainly making things interesting for Berube, who now has to figure out what he wants to do with Domi moving forward.
If he plays well against the Vancouver Canucks tonight, he may have to permanently separate Matthews and Marner once the 4 Nations Face-Off break is over.
These are tough decisions but when you are the head coach of a team, you are expected to take these kinds of problems in stride.
