Heading into the NHL trade deadline, it has been overstated how the Toronto Maple Leafs are in need of a third-line center.
Trading for one is easier said than done, but Leafs fans are keeping the faith that General Manager Brad Treliving can get it done.
There are plenty of options out there right now, but it would appear as though Treliving has found someone new to target.
That player just so happens to be Dylan Cozens of the Buffalo Sabres, a divisional rival that has been terrible this season.
According to Kevin Weekes, Cozens is currently being pursued by the Maple Leafs, the Montreal Canadiens, the Detroit Red Wings, and even the Calgary Flames.
Cozens has 10 goals and 26 points in 53 games this season which is decent enough production to the lead the third line.
When you consider what the Leafs have gotten from some of their other players this season, you begin to realize that this trade would make sense.
However, it is currently unknown what the asking price would be for a player like Cozens right now.
The Leafs do not have a ton of attractive assets, so Treliving might have to get a bit creative, moving forward.
Having said that, the Maple Leafs are in a good spot right now in the standings, and they have a lot to be excited about, even if they fail to get a deal done.
