Nick Robertson linked to Western Conference team amid trade rumors
The Toronto Maple Leafs have been rumored to be shopping around Nick Robertson in a trade, and now, it seems like the Seattle Kraken are emerging as suitors.
Nick Robertson has struggled this season although he has picked up the pace as of late, with a total of five goals, three assists, and eight points in 28 games so far this season.
Nick Robertson to the Seattle Kraken for Yanni Gourde?
With trade rumors swirling around Robertson, it should come as no surprise that reporters are attempting to figure out the perfect trade partners for the Maple Leafs.
Rachel Doerrie of ESPN is one of them as she recently explained that the Seattle Kraken would be perfect for Brad Treliving to do business with.
Why? Because the Kraken have Yanni Gourde, who could easily be part of a package for Nick Robertson.
When Berube won the Stanley Cup in St. Louis, Tyler Bozak was the third-line center; Bozak was a solid two-way center who possessed similar qualities to Gourde (who won the Cup with the Tampa Bay Lightning)."
Goerrie also spoke about how the Maple Leafs could easily make it happen if they just took Max Domi and moved him onto the second line as a winger.
Meaning a third line of Bobby McMann, Gourde and the newly physical Max Pacioretty could provide the forechecking, tough-to-play-against combination that Berube prefers."
Overall, this would be a very interesting move, and it makes sense as Gourde has been linked to the Maple Leafs for quite some time now.
However, making the trade happen is a different story entirely. This would require Treliving to pick up the phone.
Regardless, it does feel like Robertson's days with the Maple Leafs are numbered, for better or for worse.
