On Saturday night, Ryan Reaves attempted to fight Montreal Canadiens defenseman Arber Xhekaj, however, he refused.
The Canadiens heavyweight then proceeded to point at the scoreboard as it was 3-0 in favor of the Habs. The Leafs would then go on to win 7-3.
It was a humiliating final score for the Montreal Canadiens but especially so for Xhekaj's whose hubris in that moment caught up with him in a truly horrific way.
Today at practice, Ryan Reaves was asked about what happened with Xhekaj and whether or not it was karma.
Reaves agreed that it was although he also agreed that it was just an overall bad look for Wi-Fi, who has been a tough talker these past couple of seasons.
The Toronto Maple Leafs and the Montreal Canadiens rivalry is one that will always stand the test of time, and Saturday was a great example of this.
Overall, the Leafs are the much better team right now and Reaves is having the last laugh.
That said, the Habs are getting better and if they somehow make the playoffs, then the Leafs might just get them in the first round.
If you're a Leafs fan, you can't help but have just a bit of PTSD from that shameful series in 2021 when the team gave up a 3-1 lead in the opening round.
