forward Alexander Ovechkin is not at the 4 Nations Face-Off as Team Russia continues to be banned from international competition.

Alexander Ovechkin is closing in on the all-time scoring record set by Wayne Gretzky, however, he is noticeably absent from the biggest spectacle in hockey.

Of course, we are talking about the 4 Nations Face-Off which controversially left out Team Russia due to the war in Ukraine.

Alexander Ovechkin talks 4 Nations Face-Off

Russia has been excluded from numerous international competitions and this has led to lots of debate and discourse about whether or not this is actually fair.

Unfortunately, it has also come at the expense of seeing a player like Ovechkin play in a best-on-best tournament at the end of his career.

When asked if he would be watching the tournament, Ovi took a clear shot at the NHL and how Russia's absence has made the whole thing obsolete for him.

"I won't be watching the Four Nations Tournament. What's the point of watching something where the Russian team isn't participating?"

One could say this is Ovechkin's loss when you consider just how good the first few games have been.

Team USA has punched its ticket to the final and it is believed that Canada will as well with a win against Finland.

There is no telling if Canada will get it done, however, there is no doubt that the league wants to see these two teams in the finale.

As for Russia's future in International competitions, there is no telling what is going to happen next.

Will Alexander Ovechkin get to play at the Olympics next year? Your guess is as good as ours.
