The NHL is a league that is always looking to try new things and before Gary Bettman retires, it seems like a change to the way jerseys are worn could be coming soon.

When the NHL first started, home teams used to wear their white jerseys while the away team brought their colored jerseys.

However, somewhere along the way, there was a change and now, it is the home team gets to wear their colored jerseys.

How do NHL teams choose their Jerseys?

If you are a younger fan, this is all you know when it comes to the NHL jersey protocol.

That said, there are plenty of older and OG fans who yearn for the days where the home team had on a crispy white uniform.

Well, according to a new report from Ryan Kennedy, it would appear as though the NHL is now thinking about changing things back to the way they used to be.

At this stage, there is no timeline for when the change would become official and there is no guarantee that they would even bother to do this.

We do know that Gary Bettman is looking to retire soon and he wants to leave a legacy on the way out.

Part of that legacy could involve restoring the league back to its glory days of the 70s, 80s, and perhaps even the early 90s.

Overall, it would make for an interesting change although for those younger fans, this might prove to be completely unnecessary.

Only time will whether or not the NHL decides to go through with it or just simply leave it alone for the forseeable future.
