The Boston Bruins and the Toronto Maple Leafs have one of the best rivalries in hockey and there is no doubt that Pat Maroon and Jake Debrusk basked in it.

Over the last few years, the Bruins have been the winners of the rivalry on numerous occasions.

The Maple Leafs have not been able to win a single playoff series against the Bruins over the past decade and it has gotten to a point where fans are absolutely distraught about it.

Jake Debrusk had some interesting comments about the Maple Leafs

During an appearance on Spittin Chiclets, Pat Maroon revealed that during last year's playoff run, the Bruins were confident they would beat the Leafs.

In fact, Debrusk was in the locker room claiming that he "owned" the Maple Leafs, which is the ultimate display of disrespect.

«It's funny because, like, all those guys are like, 'Oh, we own Toronto. They never beat us. You own Toronto.' And, like, everyone was so confident in that room-'We're not losing this game. Like, Game 7, there's no way we're losing.' Everyone's just like, 'We're not losing.'

Like, Jake DeBrusk, he was like, 'I own Toronto. So f***ing great. I own Toronto.' And he was out of the gates. He came out hot, too. He was scoring. I was like, 'This is great. Like, these boys-he knows he does.'

But obviously, it was a panic when we were down 3-1. They kind of played really good without Matthews there for a second. You know, they got to their structure. They got to their game.

But Swayman was nasty for us. He, you know, he stole some games for us. But that Game 7 was epic.»

This season, the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins are on much different ground.

Of course, the Leafs are safely in the playoffs while the Bruins are fighting for a Wild Card spot.

There is still a chance that the Leafs will have to play the Bruins in the postseason and that is something that the Leafs will want to avoid.

As for Debrusk and Maroon, they are currently playing for completely different teams.

Maroon is on the Chicago Blackhawks and Debrusk is on the Vancouver Canucks. Simply put, they will not be part of the rivalry going forward.
