Former Maple Leafs goalie Jack Campbell put on waivers
Former Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Jack Campbell has had a bit of a tough year since joining the Detroit Red Wings in free agency.
For instance, back on October 4th, he was placed in the NHL Player Assistance Program. Overall, there was no specific reason given for the move.
All we do know is that this is always a big decision for a player.
You have to respect a player who knows themself well enough to get help when they need it.
Today, it was reported by Elliotte Friedman that Campbell was placed on waivers by the Red Wings.
This is news that caused a whole lot of confusion. However, it was eventually explained that Campbell was cleared from the Players Assistance Program.
In order to be able to return to action, he must first clear waivers. The Red Wings still want Campbell, but this is, indeed, a formality.

Either way, we hope that Campbell is doing okay and got the help he so needed. We also hope he didn't feel pressure to return too fast.
As for Waivers, typically, there is an honor system about this sort of thing where teams will not just take a player off of waivers if they are in Campbell's situation.
Having said that, we're sure Campbell is eager to get back into action with his new team.
The Red Wings are a legendary franchise that is trying to get itself back into the Stanley Cup playoffs.
Campbell was supposed to be a huge part of that, and it remains to be seen how quickly he will be integrated back into the team.
