Matthew Tkachuk was a stud for Team USA at the 4 Nations Face-Off, however, his return to the Florida Panthers has been left in shambles due to an injury.

Florida Panthers star forward Matthew Tkachuk did not play in the second half of Thursday's 4 Nations Face-Off final as he suffered an injury.

It was a hard pill to swallow for Team USA, and when he left the arena limping, it immediately became the Florida Panthers' problem.

Is Matthew Tkachuk playing for the Florida Panthers tonight

Paul Maurice spoke to the media today as the Panthers look to take on the Seattle Kraken in the first game back after the 4 Nations Face-Off break.

Unfortunately for the Panthers, it has been confirmed that Tkachuk will not be playing in tonight's game.

Meanwhile, it appears clear that the forward will not be playing any games in the immediate future either.

Per HC Paul Maurice, Matthew Tkachuk will not play tonight vs. Seattle and will continue to be evaluated these next couple of days. Maurice says they will have a clear plan after that.

As it stands, Tkachuk has not been officially diagnosed. No one knows the prognosis or how long he is going to be out for.

But what is clear is that the injury seems somewhat serious and that could spell trouble for the Panthers as they seek to win the Atlantic Division.

This is good news for the Toronto Maple Leafs, who want to re-take the division lead and get the number one seed.

Overall, this final stretch of the season is going to be fascinating and one can only hope that it delivers.
