Toronto Maple Leafs forward Max Pacioretty is out tonight with an injury and that means a beloved Toronto Marlies scorer is being called into the lineup.

Max Pacioretty got injured upon returning to practice this past week which means the Toronto Maple Leafs had to make some quick decisions.

In fact, this led to a call-up for Alex Steeves, who is a player that has been dominant in the AHL for the Toronto Marlies.

He currently has 29 goals in 40 games and he also has a total of 46 points, making him a true All-Star of the minor leagues.

Steeves has played four games for the Maple Leafs this season, and tonight, he will be playing in his fifth.

According to David Alter of The Hockey News, it has been officially revealed that Steeves will be slotting into the lineup tonight in what should be a huge game for the Leafs against the Carolina Hurricanes.

For a guy like Steeves, there is a lot riding on this game as he is someone who may not have a lot of time left to impress the Leafs.

Over four seasons, he has only played 11 games with the team, and he has been adamant about getting more opportunities.

He is up for a new contract in the offseason, and if he doesn't get more of a shot with the Maple Leafs, then there is a real chance that he just goes somewhere else.

The fans have been wanting to see Steeves get a fair shake, and some production against the Hurricanes would certainly help his case.

Hopefully, this can be a successful stretch for him as he is also expected to play against the Chicago Blackhawks tomorrow.
