During a game against the Anaheim Ducks, Anthony Stolarz tweaked something, and in the immediate aftermath of his injury, he was listed as day-to-day by head coach Craig Berube.
Stolarz has been one of the best goaltenders in the entire league this season, and the Maple Leafs can owe a lot of their success to him.
However, with him injured, the team must now rely on the likes of Joseph Woll and Dennis Hildeby.
Unfortunately, the first game without Stolarz in the lineup was a bad one as the Leafs lost 4-2 against the Detroit Red Wings.
Meanwhile, Stolarz is currently on the road with the Leafs, which made some fans think he might be an option for tonight's game against the Buffalo Sabres.
This is not the case, and in fact, the Leafs announced this afternoon that their goaltender has officially been placed on the Injured Reserve.
Subsequently, this means that Stolarz is going to have to miss the next few games, which does not bode well for the Maple Leafs.
Although Joseph Woll is more than capable, there is no doubt that Stolarz has been the hot hand.
Moreover, this also is just going to create a whole bunch of speculation about the goalie's health and whether or not this injury is worse than originally reported.
Hopefully, this is only a blip on the radar and we are able to see Anthony Stolarz back in the Maple Leafs lineup sooner rather than later.
