Donald Trump has imposed massive tariffs on Canada and Mexico which has subsequently led to heated tensions with the United States.
As a result, Canadian hockey fans have been booing the American National Anthem during games, and there has been a massive debate about whether or not this is the right thing to do.
Auston Matthews is about to be the captain for Team USA at the 4 Nations Face-Off, so he is the perfect person to ask about all of this.
Luke Fox of Sportsnet did just that, however, he did not get a real response from Matthews, who seemed timid about the whole thing.
It is easy to see why Matthews would feel this way when you think about the political tensions going around these days.
Auston plays in Canada and he doesn't want to say anything that might upset the fans.
This all comes on the same day that the Florida Panthers went to the White House and got to meet with President Donald Trump.
The team appeared to have a good time and Matthew Tkachuk, in particular, seemed eager to cozy up to POTUS.
Only time will tell whether or not Canadian fans continue to boo during the 4 Nations Face-Off in a couple of weeks from now.
