Saturday night didn't start well for the Toronto Maple Leafs since they found themselves down 3-0 to the Montreal Canadiens after a sluggish first period.

But Bobby McMann found himself without a stick in the neutral zone, but he was thinking quickly and grabbed Matthew Knies' stick and moments later unleashed an 88 MPH shot to score a goal.

Bobby McMann is considering an equipment change after highlight-reel goal with Matthew Knies stick

Bobby McMann shared his thoughts on the moment:

"I saw a couple guy's sticks. One of Kniesy's, I thought that'd be the closest to (mine). Didn't really think about the white tape though. That's always a difference.

And then, it actually felt good. I went to battle with it and then the puck came around and felt like I had to bend over a little more. He's a little shorter. But then, I was like, 'I gotta rip this with his stick and see what happens.'"

McMann's choice of Matthew Knies stick brings back the debate about tape color since the black tape that players often prefer, can make the puck less visible to opponents.

On the other hand, white tape makes the puck easier for the player to see in their peripheral vision and helps blend the stick into the ice.

After the goal, McMann admitted that he will probably choose white tape permanently after this game:

"A couple players thinking I should be using white tape from now on. I might need to use it in a couple of practices before I go at it (in a game)."

With 13 goals and seven assists in 39 games, Bobby McMann is on pace for his first 20-goal season.

If a simple tape change can boost his confidence then the Leafs could benefit from an even bigger season from the young forward.
