Brad Treliving Makes Surprising Comments About Where Ryan Reaves Stands with the Maple Leafs
Toronto Maple Leafs enforcer Ryan Reaves was placed on waivers earlier this week and eventually cleared which has led to some comments from Brad Treliving.
Brad Treliving had a busy day on Friday during the NHL trade deadline as he made some moves for Scott Laughton and even Brandon Carlo.
However, one day earlier, the general manager looked to shed some salary cap as he placed enforcer Ryan Reaves on waivers.
On Friday, Reaves cleared waivers which essentially sent him down to the AHL where he will have to play with the Toronto Marlies for a while.
Will Ryan Reaves play for the Toronto Maple Leafs again
At this time, there is simply no room for the enforcer on the Maple Leafs roster, however, it would appear as though Treliving is standing up for him right now.
During yesterday's post-deadline press conference, the general manager spoke about Ryan Reaves and noted that they want him to be part of the team moving forward.
Treliving assured the media that this is not the end of the enforcer's time in Toronto and that they want to bring him back in some capacity very soon.
It remains to be seen how they are going to be able to do this and whether or not it is actually viable given just how many players are on the team right now.
With Laughton in the mix and Calle Jarnkrok back in the lineup, it is hard to imagine Reaves getting called up unless an injury happens.
Having said that, the Maple Leafs improved quite a bit on Friday and this upcoming playoff push is going to be fascinating to watch.
