Bruins Snake the Toronto Maple Leafs Out of a Brad Marchand Trade
The Toronto Maple Leafs were one of the teams in on Brad Marchand at the trade deadline but the Boston Bruins traded him to the Florida Panthers instead.
Brad Marchand was on the Toronto Maple Leafs radar at the trade deadline but in the end, they were unable to trade for him.
Instead, the Bruins legend went to the Florida Panthers who were able to acquire his services for a bag of puck and maybe even some drill cones.

All jokes aside, the Panthers actually got Marchand for a second-round pick that is conditional on just how much the forward plays this season.
If he plays enough games, that second-round pick ends up becoming a first-round pick which makes things infinitely more fair.

The Maple Leafs could have easily paid this kind of meager price for Brad Marchand and according to Nick Kypreos, they were trying to.
However, the Bruins made a hard stance and were completely refusing to send him to Toronto, or at least that is what Kypreos was told.
It is interesting for the Bruins to operate under this kind of mentality when they ended up trading Brandon Carlo to the Leafs.
Perhaps their captain was more of an inflection point as it pertains to doing business with a rival like the Maple Leafs.
Then again, the Panthers have since become a rival of the Bruins, although if the rumors are to be believed, Florida was the only place Brad Marchand was willing to be traded to.
No matter what, this past trade deadline was absolutely insane and it is hard to believe so many blockbusters took place.
