The Toronto Maple Leafs were busy at the trade deadline as they made moves with the Philadelphia Flyers and the Boston Bruins.
Overall, the first move of the day came when the Leafs traded Nikita Grebenkin and a first-round pick to the Flyers for Scott Laughton.
The second trade was when Brad Treliving sent Fraser Minten and another first-round pick to the Boston Bruins for Brandon Carlo.
The Maple Leafs also traded away Connor Dewar and Conor Timmins in a salary dump that simply had to be done.
Dewar wore the number 24 while Timmins wore the number 25. Of course, with these two players off of the team, the numbers became available.
This was great news for Brandon Carlo who wore the number 25 with Boston. According to the Leafs roster page, the defenseman has, indeed, gone with 25.
Meanwhile, Laughton wore the number 21 in Philadelphia but has opted for 24, ultimately replacing Dewar.
These numbers will be on the ice tonight as the Toronto Maple Leafs take on the Colorado Avalanche in Colorado.
Fans are extremely excited to see Laughton and Carlo in action for the Leafs and there is quite a bit of anxiety around what the lineup is going to look like.
The Leafs are trying to get back in the win column after a couple of losses in a row and a win against the Avalanche would build a ton of confidence.
Only time will tell whether or not this Leafs team is able to really show people that they are for real with two new players in the lineup.
