Brad Treliving reveals the truth about Auston Matthews' trip to Munich
Toronto Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews has been out for a while now due to an upper-body injury that has continued to plague him.
Last week, it was revealed that Matthews had gone to Munich, Germany so he could get some care on his ailment.
However, throughout this time, the Leafs have not actually let on to what Matthews is going through.
Instead, they have completely stayed quiet on whatever is going on, and it has left fans exceptionally worried.
Today, Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving spoke on why the team preferred to keep things under wraps.
Moreover, Treliving explained why now was the time for Matthews to go to Europe.
"It's bugged him for a bit. With time, it'll get behind him. We looked at the schedule. We had like three games over two and a half weeks, so we felt here's a time where there's not a volume of games, let's take the time here."

Treliving went on to note that this was also a maintenance trip for Matthews, who will be back to 100 percent very soon.
"As much as it was to go over there to get treatment for what he was dealing with, it was also like you take the car in sometimes because you need to get the oil changed. But when you're getting the oil changed, let's rotate the tires, let's check the brakes, let's do everything. That's really what this was. It's a guy that he's used in the past. He's been over there before. We know the individual. We have faith in it."
Hopefully, Matthews can return to the team by Wednesday night. Sure, he won't play against the Utah Hockey Club tonight, but that's okay.
You need to let your best players heal, and that is what the Leafs have done this past week.
Only time will tell whether or not Matthews can get back to his previous production levels.
