Calle Jarnkrok is a versatile player who can either be placed on the right wing or he can play center, a position in which the Toronto Maple Leafs are trying to improve right now.
However, the forward has been dealing with a sports hernia, and it has forced general manager Brad Treliving to assess the trade market to see if he should make some kind of deal.
Waiting for a player to come back can be difficult, and the Leafs didn't want to put any unjust pressure on Jarnkrok.
However, with the team in Boston tonight for a matchup against the Bruins, the injured forward decided to make the flight and sure enough, he was on the ice during morning skate.
This elicited some questions from the media, and Craig Berube was excited to answer all of them.
As he explained, Calle Jarnkrok is feeling the best he has in months and that for the most part, he is ready to play. He just needs to see the doctor before he can be 100 percent cleared.
This could very well throw a wrench into Treliving's deadline plans, however, Jarnkrok is certainly not the answer to all of the team's problems.
He is not much of a goal-scorer and while he would be a better third-line center than Max Domi, the Leafs should still try and see what is out there before making any final decisions.
Having said that, it is good to see Jarnkrok making massive progress and showing his teammates that he has a ton of fight and grit.
Hopefully, he will be cleared by the doctors and we can see him back on the ice sometime this March, or perhaps even this week if things go incredibly well.
