John Tavares and Matthew Knies have been injured as of late albeit for varying lengths of time.
The former captain has been out for about three weeks following a lower-body injury sustained at practice. Meanwhile, Knies has missed time due to an upper-body injury sustained about a week ago.
During their absences, the Maple Leafs have been awful and have lost three games in a row while only scoring a total of three goals during this time.
Fans of the team have been praying for these players to find their way back into the lineup, and this week, they were getting very close to that reality.
Moments ago, Craig Berube broke substantial news to the media, revealing that John Tavares and Matthew Knies would be in the lineup tonight.
The Maple Leafs are taking on the Edmonton Oilers on Hockey Night in Canada. Although the game is on the West Coast, it will still take place at 7 PM EST.
Overall, this is a game that should be a whole lot of fun and it could be a test to see if the Leafs can start winning against the league's best teams.
The Oilers are on a heater right now and it is going to be tough to stop Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl.
Moreover, the Leafs are trying to get their lead back in the Atlantic Division as they are one point behind the Florida Panthers with a game in hand.
Hopefully, the Maple Leafs can finally undo some of the damage they inflicted on themselves throughout the month of January.
