Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Easton Cowan is gearing up for the World Juniors and if one thing is for certain, it is that he has a good head on his shoulders.

Easton Cowan is a player that Maple Leafs fans have been very optimistic about, and there are some very good reasons for this, chief among them, his offensive output.

Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Easton Cowan just gets it

Cowan now holds the OHL record for most games in a row with a point.

In fact, the London Knights star broke the record just a few weeks ago, and the player he surpassed just so happened to be Leafs legend, Doug Gilmour.

However, in that very same game, Cowan left early after a huge hit to the head in the middle of the ice.

Since that time, the young Maple Leafs prospect has remained out of the Knights lineup, and won't be playing hockey again until the World Juniors start in 10 days.

Recently, Cowan was asked about his injury and this is where the young man took full responsibility for what happened.

«It was a clean hit. I had my head down. I just have to be more aware. Unfortunately, I didn't see him coming. Usually, I can see that, but I didn't see it there. I'm pretty sure I'll be more aware now.»

While Cowan could have taken the easy way out here, he decided to take accountability, which is something you don't always see from young players.

This is really encouraging to see and if you are a Maple Leafs fan, you should be very excited about answers like this.

It just goes to show that he has a good head on his shoulders and he is destined for success in the NHL.

While he still has a long way to go, it will be very interesting to see how he performs at the World Juniors.
