John Tavares has had a very solid start to the year with the Toronto Maple Leafs as he has scored 11 goals and has also added 11 assists for a total of 22 points in 24 games.
At 34 years old, he is going up against Father Time and for the most part, he is winning the fight.
However, as it pertains to Team Canada and the 4 Nations Face-Off, he did not make the cut.
Instead, the only Maple Leafs star to make Team Canada was none other than Mitch Marner, who currently leads the Maple Leafs in point production.
In the aftermath of these Team Canada announcements, John Tavares was asked how he felt about being snubbed by the team he has played for so many times already.
Tavares was very open and honest about his feelings towards this, and told reporter Chris Johnston that it was something he was disappointed about.
However, in the future, Tavares still believes it is possible that he gets to play for Team Canada again.
Only time will tell whether or not Tavares gets that kind of opportunity again, especially when you consider his age.
However, Tavares is still playing at a high level, and for now, his main goal should be trying to win a Stanley Cup with this Leafs team.
