The Toronto Maple Leafs are playing the Washington Capitals tonight and they have chosen between Joseph Woll and Anthony Stolarz for the starting goalie role.

Anthony Stolarz and Joseph Woll have been sensational to start the NHL season and the Toronto Maple Leafs are certainly happy to have two bonafide starters on the team.

Overall, Stolarz was the clear starter to begin the season, although this was because Joseph Woll was dealing with an injury.

Now, the two goaltenders have been splitting the time evenly, and it has led to some uncomfortable conversations.

Both goalies continue to play well, however, Woll has won six games in a row.

Having said that, the Leafs play the Washington Capitals tonight, and Woll just played a couple of nights ago against the Nashville Predators.

Anthony Stolarz or Joseph Woll

With that crucial bit of context squared away, it should come as absolutely no surprise to anyone that the Maple Leafs have opted to start Anthony Stolarz tonight.

Stolarz has been no slouch this season as he has a record of 8-4-2 while also posting a goals-against average of 2.23 and a save percentage of .924.

The statistics are almost identical to Joseph Woll which makes it very difficult to actually crown a true starter right now.

Either way, the Leafs will have their hands full tonight as they take on an exceptional Washington Capitals Squad.

While Alexander Ovechkin might not be in the lineup, this team is still very dangerous.

Only time will tell how Stolarz handles all of it.
