Toronto Maple Leafs forward Matthew Knies has been mentioned in a few trade rumors as of late, however, his recent actions have quieted the noise.

Months ago, Las Vegas Golden Knights defenseman Zach Whitecloud gave Matthew Knies a concussion with a head shot that was never even penalized.

Last night, the Maple Leafs got to play the Golden Knights in Vegas and it was here where the Toronto forward was finally able to get his revenge.

Right off the opening draw, Knies dropped the gloves with Whitecloud which was certainly a massive surprise to both the announcers and everyone who was in attendance for the game.

Despite his lack of fighting experience, the Toronto Maple Leafs forward was able to land some massive punches and ultimately won the fight, even if he was the first player to hit the ice.

While most see Knies as completely untouchable, there are some scenarios in which he could be traded at the deadline. For instance, a deal for Mikko Rantanen would certainly include his services.

However, as Sportsnet reporter Luke Fox explained on Twitter, this fight proves that the Leafs cannot afford to get rid of him right now.

Unfortunately, the Vegas Golden Knights were able to win the game by a score of 5-2 thanks to a hot first period in which they chased Joseph Woll from the net.

However, Matthew Knies still impressed teammates like Mitch Marner and Morgan Rielly, who were aware of the forward's intentions going into the game.

Mitch Marner: "He told us that he was going to see if he could get that, obviously, with the hit that happened last time we played them. So, he kind of gave us a heads-up."

Morgan Rielly: "A young guy making a statement like that, I thought was powerful."

The Maple Leafs have now lost two in a row, and with the battle for first place in the Atlantic Division ongoing, the team is going to need to pick things up, especially with the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday.
