Max Pacioretty took a pick to the side of the head against the Canadiens and while he did seem to be okay in the moment, there is no doubt that the after-effects have been quite damaging.
For instance, Pacioretty missed Monday night's game against the Tampa Bay Lightning as head coach Craig Berube confirmed he was day-to-day.
Since then, it has been revealed that Pacioretty would also miss tonight's matchup against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
To make things worse, the Leafs are putting the veteran forward on the injured reserve which means he won't be available this weekend as the team takes on the Ottawa Senators.
With Pacioretty injured, the team has since recalled Jacob Quillan from the Toronto Marlies, which is a huge look for the kid.
The Maple Leafs are currently in the midst of a three-game winning streak and they are also first in the Atlantic Division with a three-point lead on the Florida Panthers.
With games against the Blue Jackets and the Senators coming up, there is no doubt that this Leafs team needs to step it up and keep their feet on the gas.
A few months ago, the Leafs lost 3-0 to the Senators and it was a game that had a lot of fans rolling their eyes.
With Auston Matthews on a heater, they will be looking to the captain to keep the good times rolling.
As for Max Pacioretty, we hope he feels better as he deals with this head injury.
