bested Auston Matthews in the 4 Nations Face-Off final, and now, the Toronto Maple Leafs teammates are back in action tonight against the Carolina Hurricanes.

Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner made the game-winning pass on Connor McDavid's overtime goal at the 4 Nations Face-Off.

This goal won Team Canada the championship over Team USA, and it was Auston Matthews who made the mistake on his defensive assignment.

Mitch Marner and Auston Matthews debrief

Matthews has caught a lot of flack following the tournament but he must leave it all behind as the Toronto Maple Leafs are back in action tonight.

Overall, this is going to be an interesting game, and Marner will also have to play a role.

In fact, prior to today's game, Marner was asked if he and Matthews have had a conversation since the 4 Nations Face-Off.

As the forward explained, they were on the plane home from Boston and it was here where they just had general conversations about how the tournament ultimately played out.

"We talked about how much fun the tournament was, but how taxing on the body, the high level of competition"

Tonight's game against the Carolina Hurricanes is very important, and the Maple Leafs are going to have to put up a good performance.

They are trying to take the lead in the Atlantic Division standings, and a good performance will help them do that.

Whatever the case may be, Leafs fans are just happy to see their team back on the ice again.
