and Team Canada were in action against Finland today, although the Toronto Maple Leafs superstar was hit with an unfortunate demotion.

Despite scoring the game-winning-goal against Team Sweden last week at the 4 Nations Face-Off, Mitch Marner has fallen off a bit of a cliff.

He was a no-show against Team USA and it was becoming clear that head coach Jon Cooper was growing a bit tired of him.

Mitch Marner goes down a line for Team Canada

Just yesterday, it was revealed that Marner was playing on the second line at practice with guys like Sam Reinhart and Nathan MacKinnon.

However, prior to today's game against Finland, Jon Cooper made another change as the Maple Leafs star was placed on the third line.

As you will see below, Marner got placed on a checking line with Tampa Bay Lighting players Anthony Cirelli and Brandon Hagel.

TEAM CANADA warmup lines:
Stone-McDavid-Point
Crosby-MacKinnon-Reinhart
Marner-Cirelli-Hagel
Marchand-Bennett-Konecny
Toews-Makar
Morrissey-Parayko
Sanheim-Doughty
Binnington

Canada won today's game by a score of 5-3 and now, they will get to play in the championship match against Team USA.

Once again, Marner had a very quiet game which is probably going to come as a huge disappointment to a lot of fans out there.

It is very unlikely that he gets a promotion against Team USA when you consider how well the top two lines played today.

Regardless, this should be good experience for Marner who is learning how to win from some of the best players to ever walk get on the ice.
