Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Chris Tanev has been one of the best blue-liners on the team this season, however, his current injury is getting in the way.

Chris Tanev
suffered an upper-body injury against the Boston Bruins about 10 days ago and he has yet to return to the Toronto Maple Leafs lineup.

The team was forced to put him on the injured reserve and as it stands, they are waiting for him to get healthy so that they can be closer to full strength during the postseason.

Luckily, the team just traded for former Boston Bruins defenseman Brandon Carlo, which certainly eases the tension created by Tanev's injury.

Is Chris Tanev playing against the Colorado Avalanche

Despite this bout of good fortune, fans still want to see Tanev back in the lineup, and Craig Berube was asked on Friday whether or not that was going to be possible.

Unfortunately, the Toronto Maple Leafs head coach confirmed that it is very doubtful we see the defenseman in the lineup tonight against the Colorado Avalanche.

However, it is 100 percent a go for Scott Laughton and Carlo, as long as they make it to Denver, Colorado on time.

Overall, this is going to be a fascinating stretch for the Toronto Maple Leafs as they integrate two new players into the team's lineup.

These are guys that you want to have with you in the trenches come playoff time and there is no doubt that they are going to be effective and favorites of Craig Berube.

As for Chris Tanev, we hope to see him back in the lineup very soon as his addition will make the team's defensive core one of the best in the entire NHL.

This run to the playoffs is going to be a whole lot of fun and you have to credit Brad Treliving for making the moves.
