Toronto Maple Leafs Prospect Ben Danford Hit with Two-Game Suspension
Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Ben Danford has been tearing it up with the Oshawa Generals although he is now going to have to sit down for the next two games.
Ben Danford was the 31st overall pick in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft as the Toronto Maple Leafs took him with their first-round pick.
The team has been in need of a young right-handed puck moving defenseman and the Oshawa Generals captain is expected to be the next man up in that regard.
Although he was heavily implicated in trade rumors, the Maple Leafs decided to keep Danford as they acknowledge he will be part of the future for years to come.
Ben Danford to miss two Oshawa Generals games
Unfortunately for the young defenseman, he is going to have to miss a couple of games for the Oshawa Generals thanks to a line brawl he participated in against the Brampton Steelheads.
Danford had a fight against Porter Martone, the captain of the Steelheads. It was quite the brawl and as a result, both got automatic two-game suspensions.
The OHL assesses these kinds of automatic suspensions all the time, and it is not expected that this will have a negative impact on Danford beyond the next couple of games.
With 23 points in 56 games this season, the defenseman has shown that he can definitely generate offense when he needs to.
He is someone that the Toronto Maple Leafs are very excited about and it is very easy to see why that is the case.
