William Nylander's Flippant Response to the Team's Losing Streak May Upset Maple Leafs Fans
Toronto Maple Leafs forward William Nylander was recently asked about the team's losing streak and it led to a flippant answer that may just raise some eyebrows.
Despite his torrid start to the season, William Nylander has been in a bit of a slump as of late which is something that can be said for a good chunk of the team right now.
Last night, they lost 4-1 to the Dallas Stars, making it three losses in a row in which they have been outscored 13-4.
William Nylander questions Toronto Maple Leads losing streak
After practice today, Nylander spoke to reporters about the losing streak and how a lot of people are making a big deal out of it.
He made the claim that the Leafs are a good team and can easily dig themselves out of a hole. Additionally, the forward acted as though the losing streak isn't much of a big deal and that some pundits are getting worked up over nothing.
"Good teams find their way out of this. It's only been three games. What's the big deal, really?"
If you are a Maple Leafs fan, you probably don't love these comments as they are yet another example of a player pretending as though there is nothing wrong.
After a loss to the Vancouver Canucks, Mitch Marner refused to take accountability and even tried to argue that the team played well.
Over the years, this team has gone through numerous playoff disappointments, however, it feels like the players never learn their lesson.
Even under Craig Berube, the accountability just isn't there right now. Perhaps it is not the coaching, but the players themselves who are just completely out of touch.
Hopefully, guys like Nylander and Marner get a wake-up call moving forward. If this is any indication of what the playoffs will be like, the Leafs will be in for another first-round exit.
