Craig Berube Reveals How He Feels About Being the Head Coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs

Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube is currently in his first season with the team and so far, he has done a pretty good job of navigating a difficult market.

Craig Berube understands how to win at the NHL level. After all, he led the St. Louis Blues to a Stanley Cup over the Boston Bruins back in 2019.

Now, he is being tasked with helping the Toronto Maple Leafs win their first Stanley Cup title since 1967.

So far, his first campaign with the franchise has been a good one. The team is leading the Atlantic Division and some see them as Cup contenders.

Although the team has had its fair share of problems this season, Berube has helped guide this team to weather the storm.

Recently, the head coach spoke with reporter Jesse Blake, where he gave his true feelings about being the bench boss of one of the most legendary and historic teams in the NHL.

"I love it. It's a great spot. It really is. There's a lot going, we all know that it's obviously a huge market here. I love the players. I think they're very professional. They work extremely hard and they want to do well and win. The organization has been fantastic. Next to none. They've got everything here and , you know, anything you need or, you know, they do it all. It's been great working with Brad and Shanny. Got a real good relationship with those guys, so it's, you know, it's been very positive for me."

Toronto is a city that can chew you up and spit you out if you don't have the right mentality and temperament for it.

However, as a former enforcer, there is no doubt that Berube has the mental fortitude to make it through a difficult season with the franchise.

His true test will be the postseason where this Leafs squad has struggled time and time again over the years.

If they can somehow make it to the Eastern Conference Finals, then Berube might get treated like a King in the city.
