The Toronto Maple Leafs have recalled Fraser Minten from the AHL following John Tavares' being placed on IR with a lower-body injury.

John Tavares is sidelined with a week-to-week designation and it leaves a significant gap in the Leafs' lineup with a three-game losing streak.

Fraser Minten is not at his first rodeo when it comes to play in the NHL

Fraser Minten who is already familiar with the NHL game this season, has scored 4 points in 11 games and had big praise for his maturity during his short stint earlier this season.

Toronto Marlies head coach John Gruden recently said very good words on Fraser Minten's development and he highlighted his reliability and polyvalence in all situations on the ice.

"For a young player, we all know he plays the right way, he plays a 200-foot game. And by playing with us, he's getting it in all situations. He's playing penalty kill, power play, all five-on-five situations, so he's getting a lot of experience."

"The one thing I like about him is he comes to work every day. He never takes a day off. He just has to continue to grow his game and understand what works and keep building and keep growing and help him out as he moves forward," Gruden continued.

Fraser Minten's recall presents an opportunity for the 19-year-old to prove himself during this stretch for the Leafs.

Even if he didn't play against the New Jersey Devils, his recall signals the team's confidence in his potential to contribute at the NHL level.

This stint could be a big moment in Minten's career trajectory since it's potentially solidifying a permanent role with the Maple Leafs for the future.

As Toronto looks to rebound, Fraser Minten's strong two-way play may be exactly the spark they need.
