Team Canada is taking on Team Finland at the 4 Nations Face-Off today and the team just got some huge news about their new defenseman, Thomas Harley.

Thomas Harley was not on the original roster for Team Canada's 4 Nations Face-Off journey.

However, after an illness to Cale Makar and an injury to Shea Theodore, Team Canada was left in a precarious position and the NHL let them use a call-up.

Is Thomas Harley playing for Team Canada today?

Harley got to play against Team USA on Saturday night and while the team lost the game by a score of 3-1, the Dallas Stars defenseman was praised for his performance.

It's clear that the 23-year-old is a star in the making and it should come as no surprise that Team Canada head coach Jon Cooper would like to play him as much as possible.

According to Elliotte Friedman, it seems as though there will be no restrictions placed on Harley going forward.

Even if Makar comes back to the lineup on Monday and subsequently, Thursday, Harley will be allowed to play.

Given the 4 Nations Face-Off call-up rules, it was up in the air whether or not Harley would be allowed to play for the rest of the tournament.

In the future, Friedman notes that the NHL is going to try and be more clear with the rules as it feels like they are making things up as they go along.

Either way, the tournament has been fantastic so far and with a win against Team Finland, Canada can punch its ticket to the championship game.

This would be a rematch against Team USA and it would likely make for an instant classic.
