Boston Bruins captain Brad Marchand is currently dealing with a week-to-week injury and there are all sorts of rumors concerning him and the NHL trade deadline.

Brad Marchand has been with the Bruins since the beginning of his career and there is no doubt that he is a beloved member of the franchise who will have his jersey raised to the rafters.

However, he is also 36 years old and is going to be a free agent at the end of the season. The Bruins are not the team they once were and there are fears that he won't re-sign.

Furthermore, with the team on the outside looking in of the playoff picture, there is this sense that Don Sweeney could just trade Marchand as a way to cut any potential losses.

Are the Boston Bruins trading Brad Marchand?

According to a new piece from Ryan Dixon of Sportsnet, it is unlikely that the Bruins actually go through with a trade of their captain.

That said, Sweeney could very well decide to make the plunge if he receives an offer that completely changes mind.

However, all it takes is one hefty offer to convince Boston general manager Don Sweeney to move a player he may even be able to re-sign in the summer as free agent.

If Marchand does wind up on another club before the deadline, here are a couple to keep an eye on.

There are four teams, in particular, that could be in the running for Brad Marchand and they all seem to be viable Stanley Cup contenders.

These teams are the Edmonton Oilers, Colorado Avalanche, Las Vegas Golden Knights, and even the New Jersey Devils.

At this point, it is hard to picture Marchand on any other team than the Boston Bruins, however, all good things do come to an end at some point or another.

With 21 goals and 47 points this season, he is still very productive and would provide a ton of value to a prospective team.

However, on the flip side of this, he is week-to-week right now, which could end up convincing teams to stay away.

No matter what, this week is about to get very interesting.
