New York Rangers captain Jacob Trouba has been traded to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for Urho Vaakanainen and a draft pick.

Earlier today, it was reported that the New York Rangers were going to sit Jacob Trouba tonight tonight during their game against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The reasoning behind the decision was fairly sound as it was clear that the team either wanted to put him on waivers, or just trade him,

A critical boiling point in the tensions between Jacob Trouba and the Rangers was being scratched, and the team figured it would be best to just make a deal.

According to Elliotte Friedman, that deal has officially arrived, and it involves the Anaheim Ducks, who are giving up a draft pick and Urho Vaakanainen in return.

Jacob Trouba to the Anaheim Ducks

In a shocking turn of events, the Ducks are going to take on all of Trouba's salary, which is $8 million per year.

For the type of play Trouba has given the Rangers as of late, this is a massive overpay and the perfect example of why the Rangers wanted him gone in the first place.

For the Rangers, losing all of this salary is going to come as a massive relief, and one has to wonder why the Anaheim Ducks would even agree to something like this.

Either way, this is a huge deal for the Rangers who now get rid of a bad contract, all while bringing in some positive assets. One such asset can help out the team right away.

It is also good for the Rangers that they did not have to put Trouba on waivers and lose him for nothing.

All-in-all, the Rangers should feel good about the business that they got done today.
