Alex Nylander's fate with the Toronto Maple Leafs has been revealed
Toronto Maple Leafs forward Alexander Nylander was placed on Waivers Wednesday and many Leafs fans were waiting with bated breath to see if he would get claimed.
After being signed by the Toronto Maple Leafs a few weeks ago, Alex Nylander got a few opportunities with the franchise, but he never really shined.
Instead, he was painfully average and never recorded any points with the team in the few games that he did play.
Furthermore, during those games, a lot of fans felt as though Nylander was behind the pace of the play and that he contributions were minimal.
Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube did not have a ton of great things to say about his player, and it led to a lot of people believing that Nylander was likely going back down to the Marlies.
Well, considering the fact that the Leafs had to sign him to an NHL deal, it would take waivers before Nylander could actually go back down.
Alex Nylander remains in the organization
Yesterday, Nylander was officially placed on waivers alongside defenseman Dakota Mermis.
Today, Nylander cleared waivers while Mermis was claimed by the Utah Hockey Club.
In the aftermath of this news, it was revealed by the Toronto Maple Leafs organization that they would be sending Alex Nylander down to the AHL.
Now, he will go back to the Toronto Marlies, where he has been a much better fit as of late.
Whatever the case may be, we do wish Alex Nylander luck going forward as he is someone the fans enjoy.
Perhaps a bit of speed will allow him to get back on the team and play with his brother.
