Overall, Matthews was originally supposed to be day-to-day, however, we are going on three weeks now without his services.
During that time, the Leafs have played well as they have won five of their last six and boast a record of 11-6-2.
Fans were hoping for some good news on Matthews this week but on Monday, it was revealed that Auston would miss all of the upcoming week.
Now, it is being revealed that Matthews isn't even in Canada at the moment. Instead, he is in Munich being worked on by a doctor he knows.
According to Chris Johnston, fans should not get too worried about all of this.
Despite this warning from Johnston, it is difficult to not be concerned a little bit when it comes to Matthews.
After all, he should be feeling better by now. The mere fact that he is going to a specialist indicates that this might be worse than originally believed.
However, fans of the Maple Leafs will just have to keep the faith for now. The worst thing someone can do at this point is overreact and freak out over what is happening.
Only time will tell whether or not this trip to Munich ends up working out for Matthews.
No matter what, we wish him nothing but the best as he continues this recovery journey.
